Canon Mark 1d Mark III
I've been shooting with this camera for about a month so it seems like a good time to critique it. Overall I'm not impressed. At $4500 I expected unicorns and ferries. What I got was a camera that is slow to focus and does not have a full frame sensor. This camera weighs more than the trusty 5d and has much more bulk. I was hoping the extra features would make up for it. They don't. This camera does not perform as well in low light situation like concerts as the 5d does. The screen is not as sharp as the 5d's screen - making it very hard to check my work. I like the live view and the self cleaning sensor, but at the price of the non-full frame sensor, the fuzzy screen and the extra $2000 cost it isn't worth it.

Hmm.... I think your camera is broken and needs a repair if it can't outfocus a 5D. My 5D, which is not broken, can't reliably focus in the dark anywhere but the center focus point, whereas my Mark III can focus on ANY focus point and faster than the 5D... To me, that's a major downfall of the 5D... And your weight comparison is like totally so harsh, because of the fact that you don't have the battery grip attached to your 5D, which would make it weigh very similar... Watch out - Sledd is Brutal! :-)
I'll take it off your hands - even swap for my 5D.
Maybe it is broken. I thought I had figured out why the color was always off. I had reset the white balance on some grid in some menu - I reset it to zero zero and decided to keep the body. It didn't really help. Everything keeps turning out orange! RRRGGG! Maybe I can use yours (gently) for a couple days and see if it is me or the camera. Or you could test mine and see if it works, because I know everyone is afraid of me breaking things. Ahhh... I'm rambling.
think Nikon D3:)
I just realized that somebody took a beauty shot of that camera with the ultra cheezy 1.8 version of the 50mm on there. OMG. That will never happen in real life!!! Except as a joke of course.
Where did you lift this one from?? The flyer I picked up down at Precision shows it with both the 1.2 and the 1.4, which rocks my socks. Best dollar value in the Canon line. Long live the 50/1.4. Woo Hoo! :-P
Sorry for the offensive lens on the stock photo. I think I found it on DP review. :)
As for the comment about Nikon... I've got FAR to many lenses to switch to the dark side now. :) Although I will concede that Nikon makes better strobes, even if they do always fire 1 stop over.
