Equipment Failure x 4!!!
I must preface this post by saying this was an AMAZING wedding and Paul and Gloria are so clearly in love in make my heart sing. The photos are wonderful and only the assistants and I knew things were falling apart. :)
Things started going wrong before the wedding. My 50mm 1.2 would not auto focus. I shrug my shoulders and go on. Then I wanted to use my Quantum power pack with my 580EX flash and this weird thing happened where the flash had a big burst of light and then died. I thought it was a flash problem so I hooked the other flash to the same Quantum and the same thing happened!!! Yikes. Now two flashes down I had to use my last remaining flash with just battery power. My off camera flash trigger also stopped working tonight. Thank goodness for having triple redundancy on my gear and two assistant kits.

Uncles Paradise Rolling Roadshow
Last night was a very special treat! As part of the Alamo Drafthouse's Fantastic Fest Uncles Paradise was screened in Tim's front yard. The movie was projected onto a mini version of the Rolling Roadshow screen. The food was amazing and featured seared Ahi tuna and an assortment of other TASTY treats. The champagne bottles were opened with a saber! And my old friend Mike Curtis was in attendance! I didn't even know he is currently residing in the USA.

Sago
Yesterday I photographed the ad for Sago a contemporary Mexican food place that will be opening in early 2008 in Triangle Park.
Studio Update - Oct 8 Move In
Floor installation was scheduled to start today. As you can see that isn't going to happen. The good news is most of the walls are in they just need to be taped, floated and painted. The window and door have been installed. The plumbing is almost finished. The floors should be installed next week. That means I might be able to move in on Oct 8 if everything goes according t plan. BTW - That space at the top of the wall is a long window to let nice light in. :)
Oct 26 - Save the Date!
Sledd Photo and Do512 are having a HUGE studio opening party Oct 26. RSVP info is coming soon. There will be lots of Titos, Sweatleaf, Redbull and Fattire. The talent is TBA, but with Do512 doing the booking it is guaranteed to be good! Party starts at 9pm. Wear a costume. The photos are from last years Do512 Halloween launch party.

Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips are playing tonight at La Zona Rosa. I didn't figure it out until I was looking at Do512 this morning. I want to go, but the show is sold out. Scott confessed that he had been offered tix and didn't take them! Rrrrg.
Chip Nix
There will be a memorial service in Austin TX at Church of the Holy Trinity on Friday September 28, 2007 at 3:00pm for Chip Nix.
www.htaustin.org
Holy Trinity Church is located just south of downtown Austin at:
1700 Woodland Avenue, Austin, TX 78741.
Take the Woodland Avenue exit (exit 232B) off I-35 between Riverside and Oltorf. Holy Trinity is just east the highway. Look for the Celtic cross on the hill.
Carol, Joy and Joanna Nix will be attending the memorial service before we leave to go to Florida and then to Pennsylvania for the funeral service in Sewickley on October 13th.
Chip was the Priest at St. Matt's the Episcopal Church where I grew up. His daughter Joy is my age. My heart aches for her! Tomorrow marks 21 years since I lost my dad. :( Ooch.

Curly Wedding Hair
Today I did a photo shoot for Charlotte Belle a stylist who specializes in curly hair! I'd like to thank Kate one of my December brides for volunteering for to model! Charolette has a little hair studio in East Austin and has great rates for weddings. If you have curls and you are looking for ideas about what to do with your hair Naturally Curly is an amazing resource.

Fantastic Fest !
This week is Fantastic Fest at the Alamo. Sorry some of these photos are GROSS!!! I'm not very into blood and guts, but I put on my professional face and did my best. The goat head gave me nightmares. Yuck. BTW sorry for post dating this post. Not good blogging manners. Don't want to scare the new readers from the bridals show.
George Romero
I love this of George Romero the famed producer of Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. He was in town for the Alamo Draft House's Fantastic Fest. In the realm of celebrity portraits Mr. Romero could not have been any nicer or more generous with his time.

Studio Move In - October 1
The studio is almost done! I went by this morning for a meeting and it's amazing how much work has been done this week. The only things left are installing the windows, finishing the electrical, hanging the drywall and putting in the floors. The whole project should be done by Sept 29. Wow. I'm so excited. :)

Dance Day!
Oh the cuteness! It is almost over whelming. Chasing these two around the dance studio reminded me of just how much I love my job and how glad I am to have dropped out of law school. :)
Twins!
Business Executives
These are from a Chamber of Commerce luncheon for business executives last week at Jeffrey's. It was informative to be a fly on the wall in a room full of "fat cats" talking about local issues.

VIP vs 3 Day
VIP3 Day
ACL is about access. For the 3 day ticket holders you can come and go from the park but you cannot go back stage or into the media area. You are trapped with only $3 waters and stinky porta potties to use. VIP is a little better. The VIPs get free food, free beer, golf cart rides, air conditioned toilets and you can catch a glimpse of your favorite rocker up close. This year I was lucky enough to have VIP(ish) creds, but I was still hot, tired, and dusty.
