Sydney's first day at work.

AWWW!!! No big deal. Just a portrait with a newborn and dog all looking awesome! Can you believe how great Skyler looks? She is already back to her pre-baby weight. WOW!!! I'd be happy if I could loose my freshman 15... or my post college 30. Anyways. I know y'all are probobly getting sick of Sydney photos but this one was just too sweet not to share.

Andrew C.

Andrew is a musician. I photographed him earlier this week for his new promo material. It was great working with someone who had some defineate ideas about he wanted to look. :)

Okkervil River

I photographed Okkervil yesterday at the recording studio. The photos are for the cover of an Australian music magazine. Fun! The band wanted 4 different looks in less than an hour. We used Elinchrom Rangers, Visateks and 580ex for the light.

George Romero

I love this of George Romero the famed producer of Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. He was in town for the Alamo Draft House's Fantastic Fest. In the realm of celebrity portraits Mr. Romero could not have been any nicer or more generous with his time.

Jake at Austin Art Garage

If you are looking for great works of art made by local artist in the sub $500 range the Austin Art Garage is the place to go! Jake is very friendly and knowledgeable and can help you pick out just the thing you need. Some of my favorite artists displaying work are Brett Buchanan and Lincon Hesse. The Art Garage art gallery is located in the same complex as my new studio. They are having a big grand opening at Ann Kelso Salon on Thursday September 27.

Party for Satya

I love this photo of my mom holding her first grandchild! The pearls are my favorite part. I love wearing pearls. My mom gave me my first set when I was in Jr. High. :) I wanted to give Satya pearls at the baby shower, but I couldn't find a set I was in love with so I settled on a very cute spoon with a giraffe handle. I'll post more shower photos soon.

Fun times with the girls!!!

What a fun IDEA!!! Annie had the great idea of doing a photo session with all of her girls! We had fun tramping around down town. Would have been better if it had not been soooo windy.

Workshop

It's my birthday!!! I treated myself to a workshop by Doug Gordon the "inventor" of Flow Posing. Must say I was not too impressed. The way he talked about taking as much money as he could from brides and selling prints instead of files just seems sort of slimy. The part made me the MOST unhappy is that he is opening a satalite office for his company Patken Photography in Austin and he had secret shoppers help him get EVERYONES PRICE LISTS. He said he's using the lists to talk brides into using him by showing where other photographers are trying to rip them off. For the record the only even remotely "hidden" fee on my price list is sales tax...and there is a line at the bottom of the price list with two Astrix that says prices are pre-sales tax.

As for flow posing... I'm just going to stick with what I've been doing. I'll never be able to remember all of those steps and I don't think it'll make me a better photographer.

Good news is my hunky boyfriend is taking me out to dinner at Wink tonight. YUMMY.
